Representative Amen Brown has been a fearless advocate - working to strengthen our community through unity and renewed progress.

As State Representative of the 10th legislative district (Phila), Amen Brown, Democrat, is a fearless advocate and voice as he works to bring resources to Philadelphia, investing in the community to make our city better. Amen continues to be a true leader that never wavers in doing what is best for the people. He continues to be a staunch leader in gun violence prevention, public safety, increasing access to job opportunities, senior (seasoned citizens) outreach, and educational opportunities, including non-traditional schooling.

Amen Brown was elected as State Representative of the 190th legislative district in November 2020 and re-elected in 2022 to represent the newly redistricted 10th legislative district, which is over 60% of the former 190th district. Rep. Amen currently serves on and is apart of the following committees and caucuses: Aging & Older Adult Services Committee, Commerce Committee, Housing & Community Development Committee, Liquor Control Committee, Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness Committee, Philadelphia House Delegation, Mental Health Caucus, and the Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus.

While in Harrisburg Amen has fought and continues to fight, to ensure that his community is fairly represented and has access to the needed resources to thrive and live a quality life. Amen can relate to many as he comes from the same impoverished communities that are plagued with issues, such as homelessness, food insecurity, living below the poverty line, substance abuse, and gun violence. Based on his lived experiences, he has made it his top priority to make sure that the government is truly there to serve the people and focus on issues that are of concern to people.

Some of Amen’s highlights during his political career include: standing with unions when voting on legislation;bringing back over $50 million to the district to support affordable housing, public safety, economic development, youth programming; the establishment of neighborhood food banks; brokering a historic agreement to end the sale of ghost guns of at Pennsylvania gun shows; getting the $5 co-pay for those incarcerated extended, while fighting for it to be permanent; halting the sheriff sales to stop Philadelphians from losing their home due to the impact of the pandemic; increased constituent services being provided in the district; and creating opportunities for those in community to access good-paying jobs. In 2023 alone, Rep. Amen brought back almost $10 million to the district, which included funds for affordable housing, infrastructure, programming for those that are unhoused, and more.

Prior to his political career, Amen was an entrepreneur, operating daycares and afterschool programs. His passion has always been in youth outreach and engagement. He wanted to create a space for young people to gain skills, have access to educational enrichment opportunities, and have a safe space to keep them out of trouble. He wanted to be able to offer access to opportunities that he was not afforded growing up.

Amen Brown was born and raised in Philadelphia, as well as a product of the Philadelphia Public School system - graduating from Overbrook High School. He also attended the Community College of Philadelphia for early childhood education. Amen enjoys spending time with his kids, listening to country music, and being in the community with the people.
